MEDITATION

This ancient practice helps shift our relationship to stress, enhances attention and concentration, and supports our overall mental health. Integrating meditation into one’s life can improve sleep, strengthen the immune system, and boost cardiovascular health. If the benefits of this practice could be given in pill form, everyone would be taking it!

The research is in… meditation is one of the most powerful practices we can engage in to help increase our overall well-being.

When I share with people what I do, the most common responses I get are, “My mind is too busy to meditate,” “I have tried and I am not good at it.” or “I don't have time.” I am here to share that we are each capable of creating a personal meditation practice that is accessible and supportive to our daily lives. Yet with so many messages from culture and media, we believe that meditation should look and feel a certain way and that if our mind is not blank or if we do not feel peaceful at the end of a practice, we are doing it wrong. The myths are endless.

The intention of this sacred practice is to get to know the patterns of our minds with kindness and compassion, using the science of neuroplasticity to begin to create new pathways and patterning that are more supportive and more connected to what is truly important to you. Meditation is essentially training our attention so that we can be more aware not only of our own inner workings but also of what’s happening around us in the here and now. Meditation may be done in silence and stillness, by using voice and sound or by engaging the body in movement. All of these forms emphasize the training of attention.

With so many demands on our time and minds, it takes conscious effort to take a moment to allow ourselves the time we need to explore meditation. Even when we do make time, many people are stuck on how to actually do this.

Together we will explore different types of meditation, learn which you are most drawn to, and create a personal practice that you connect with.

Meditation is not about feeling good. It is about feeling what you are feeling with gentle awareness. Plot twist…Eventually, that makes you feel good.
